Natural Lighting vs. Studio Lighting

Something that people are constantly debating on is natural light vs. studio lighting. Some photographers swear by using only natural light while others believe studio lights will give you the best results. Here are a few pros and cons of natural outdoor lighting.

Natural Lighting
Natural light is obviously free, which photographers much prefer. Natural light can often be more striking due to the warm tones as opposed to lights found in a studio. While studios look more professional, outdoor shots look more spontaneous, so a lot of opinions are based on the type of background you'd like in your portraits. This often depends on the type of portrait that is being taken. For example, senior portraits may be better taken outdoors and professional headshots may benefit from being taken in a studio.

Studio Lighting
Studio lighting is available 24/7 and offers much more control of portraits for the photographer. They can be taken any time of day at any angle- you can adjust the lights, but you can't control the sun. Studio lights give off a more professional vibe and can be taken privately.

Glamour Shots is now offering outdoor photo sessions at participating locations. When it comes down to shooting indoors with studio lights or outdoors with natural light, it's a matter of personal opinion. Whichever you choose, you will not Glamour Shots complaints due to their high level of professionalism exhibited at all of their locations.
